Melissa Cormier is an abstract, intuitive artist based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Working predominantly in graphite, watercolor, ink and digital media, Cormier creates from a somatic place of feeling, drawing on textures that span earthy terrains to cosmic vistas.
A 2012 graduate of OCAD University, where she earned her BFA with a major in Printmaking, Cormier approaches her practice with both technical precision and intuitive exploration. An avid traveller with a deep reverence for the natural world, she continually seeks new landscapes and textures to inform and evolve her work. An ambassador for Leuchtturm1917, Pentel and Legion Paper, Cormier currently works from her Toronto studio alongside her five rescued cats.

'Melissa Cormier‘s intricate graphite drawings inspired by organic motifs and textures create surrealist compositions that intentionally reference the body. Cormier explores different textures from natural specimens: both flora and fauna. Rendered with fine precision and detail, her graphite drawings materialize on the page like a lucid dream' -Lonsdale Gallery
